Macclesfield Town Honours

Maccs have more silverware than you would think.

Those with a good memory will recall that Macclesfield were the first side to win the FA Trophy back in 1969/70 with a 2-0 victory over Telford in front of 28,000 at the old Wembley stadium.

The Silkmen won the trophy again in 1995/96 in between two GM Vauxhall Conference Championships, the latter of which saw us finally admitted to the Football League.

The following year saw an incredible second successive promotion to Division two (Now L 1) as Macc finished runners up with an unbeaten home record (P23 W19 D4 L0). Pretty awesome feet for a side who just wanted to survive in that fist season.

Ahead of Wycombe let`s cast off the gloom and realise just how well we have struggled since Colonel JWH Thorpe established us as a Rugby club before seeing the light in 1874.
