Macclesfield Town 3 – 2 Oxford United

Simmo`s half time team talk inspired an incredible come back against Oxford as the crazy gang clawed back a two deficit to win three two. Clearly fact is stranger than fiction,

The signs were not good ahead of the game as the injury plagued Silkmen saw Tyrone the terrible fail a prematch fitness test. Worse was to follow as Constable forced home after a scramble after just six minutes. In truth Maccs could have been 4-0 down but for two stupendous saves from Veiga. Hall hit a thunderbolt and Craddock and Worley both had shots cleared off the line. Craddock slotted home as a counter caught us two on one with Potter unselfishly playing him in.

Ever the optimist, Simmo suggested that all was not lost, that we had essentially been the architects of our own destruction; and that if we got one early doors then who knows. Who knows indeedy?

Enter ‘Vin the Grin` Mukendi a young lad so tall he has snow not dandruff, plus pace and panache aplenty if not the stamina to lead the line thus far. His twenty-five yard drive on 51 was too hot for Clarke to handle and the hard working Bolland gobbled up the rebound.

On 67 minutes, Draper, who had been doing double time in both halves, then put it on a plate for our playmaker and Hammy stroked home from 12 yards. Vinny then cut the ball back from the by-line for Bolland to bag his brace as the Silkmen took the lead. Veiga then ensured we kept the points with a fantastic save from Craddock as the crazy gang completed another incredible win.

Both sides in all honesty deserved the full haul, but it is the Silkmen who are now just three points off the play offs, having beaten a side who had yet to lose away. It looks like the Crazy gang spirit is set to give us a roller coaster season all right. Good on you Simmo – word has it such are the injuries he is shutting the club down until Thursday.
