Luton Town were given two of their 30 point deduction back by the officials thanks to a shocking penalty descision.

Neither side was really taking the game by the scruff of the nexk and the Silkmen’s best chance came in the first half when Nat Brown smashed a shot onto the bar.

Jon Brain was well employed catching free-kicks and corners and only had to make one save of note, from close range.

But the game was settled in the 66th minute. Tom Craddock worked the ball down hte left and evaded a challenge to get to the touchline. The ball looked to have gone out of play, but this was missed by the linesman, who turned into ‘eagle eye’ a second later, somehow spotting a handball through a crowd of players.

The referee, well placed, didn’t give anything but reacted to the linesman’s flag.

Craddock accepted the gift and put the ball past Jon Brain.

The Silkmen couldn’t force their way back into a game which saw plenty of dives and timewasting and were on the recieving end of their first ever defeat to Luton.
