The Silkmen’s season starts with a trip to Bradford to play recently relegated City.

A mixed bag of pre-season results saw the club gaining a good draw with Stoke and beating Derby whilst losing to Southport and Oldham.

But those results now mean nothing as the new look side face possibly their toughest game of the season, away at a team widely tipped for the title.

Ian Brightwell will be without David Morley and Jamie Tolley, both of whom have injuries which will last until October. Jordan Hadfield is also unavailable with a two game suspension.

Bradford Manager Stuart McCall is hoping to strengthen for the coming season after admitting being disappointed with their 1-0 win at Halifax. They will be without the injured Peter Thorne but hope to sign a loan forward by Saturday. Paul Evans is expected to be fit for the game.
