The Silkmen face a huge trip to Chester City on Saturday in a game which could go a long way to deciding both club`s League status for the coming season. A large and vocal following for the Silkmen would be a great boost to the team who need as much support as the town can muster if they are to pull away from the relegation battle.

The Silkmen`s recent run of bad results has seen them slip down the table to just seven points ahead of second bottom Chester City, who won their first game of 2009 on Saturday.

At the same time, the Silkmen were recording a creditable draw with high-flying Chesterfield, that would have been three points if the referees assistant had spotted that John Rooney`s shot had crossed the line.

Chester`s win wasn`t without a cost as they lost ‘keeper Jon Danby for the rest of the season with an arm injury, and has been replaced with a late emergency loan signing of James Spencer from Rochdale. As well as Danby, Jay Harris, who has been suffering with tonsillitis this week, may also miss out, as might Danny Mannix who is in the centre of a betting investigation.

The Silkmen may have their fittest squad for a long time after Franny Green and Izak Reid played 80 minutes of the midweek Reserve game, whilst Shaun Hessey is also expected to be available for selection against his old side.
