Wales U21 and Youth boss Brian Flynn was watching the Silkmen’s Youth side beat Wigan Athletic last weekend.

And the former Wrexham and Swansea manager was reportedly interested in Silkmen youngsters Matt Lowe and Michael Thomas.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Macclesfield youth manager John Askey said:

‘Both lads have Welsh grandparents and qualify to play for the country,’ explained John Askey. ‘I think he was suitably impressed and is planning to come and have a chat with the two lads at some stage this week.’

‘I don’t know what decision he has reached but if either of them are selected it will be a big honour from both them and the club.’
