Sad news from the Moss Rose this week as Moss Rose legend Wilf Hall passed away.

A legend both on and off the pitch, Wilf played for the club in the 60’s and went on to do every job imaginable around the ground, from programme sales to gatestaff, on to director and latterly commissionaire in the McIlroy Suite.

Wilf had a distinguished playing career which included Ipswich Town in their title winning season in 1961/2. His move to Ipswich from Stoke, for £4,700 famously allowing the Potters to spend some of that money on Stanley Matthews.

A great person and a true Silkman, Wilf will be sadly missed by all at the club and the thoughts of all supporters go out to his family.
