A fantastic performance at Wycombe sees us a point behind 17th placed Gillingham, Stevenage and Stockport all on 6 points to our 5 pts. The Silkmen sit 20th after our 2-1 win at the Chairboys a result Gary Simpson puts down to a week of shooting and belief building for our strikers.

Tyron Barnett and Colin Daniel fashioned fabulous finishes as the tactics and confidence building clearly paid off . Prior to Saturday the Silkmen had not won a game, nor the Chairboys tasted defeat.

As Simmo said.

‘We’ve worked on the finishing all week, obviously we missed a hell of a lot of chances last week,’ said Simpson. ‘We came with a game plan, we decided to go with the pace up top because we thought we might catch them out and it worked to a certain degree. The game could have been over at half-time because of the chances that we missed – we could have been four or five goals up. Obviously I’ve been down and the players have been down because we think we should have picked up a few more points. But we scored two good goals and hopefully we can take that into next week.’
