The Silkmen travel to the midlands on Monday night to face former conference rivals Hednesford Town.

With the senior side playing on Saturday in the 1-0 win over Bolton and expected to feature on Tuesday against Stockport, this will probably see a younger side making the journey.

The Silkmen have faced Hednesford many time sin the Past during the Silkmen’s Confernce years, with the last meeting being in 1997.

This game was only two days after the Herculean, 10 man 3-2 win over Stevenage Borough, and there was a major case of ‘after the lord mayor’s show’ as the Silkmen crashed to a 4-1 defeat!
A disappointing 1-1 draw with Altrincham followed, but the Silkmen recovered with a 5-0 demolition of Woking, and never looked back.

But the previous season saw the most intriguing battle as the clubs battled it out for third place with the Silkmen losing out on that, giving Hednesford their highest ever finish, but coming away that season with the FA Trophy.

Hednesford are now in the Northern Premier League after finishing last season in eighth place.
