Keith Alexander has had meetings with each of the players and has made decisions on who he wants to keep at the club.

But the retained list will not actually be announced until next Friday, to give players time to mull over their options.

He has also said he is interested in bringing some of last season’s loanees to the club on a permanent basis.

Martin Gritton, Franny Green, Danny Thomas, Tery Dunfield and Jordan Hadfield are the only players under contract with the Silkmen next season.

Keith has previously stated that he wants to introduce five or six new faces in a bid to improve on the club’s recent seasons in the relegation dogfight.

But he has achieved a creditable 19 points from his 12 games in charge of the club raising the question as to whether e will go for a major clear our of the squad, or tinker around the edges.

With those five all under contract, Keith has been forced to make a decision on the futures of the following players.

Tommy Lee, Richard Edghill, Richard Walker, Luke Dimech, Jamie Tolley, Levi Reid, Izak Reid, Andrew Teague, James Jennings, Nick Blackman, Matthew Flynn, Gareth Evans, Jonny Brain and Shaun Brisley.

Meanwhile, Neil Ashton has said he would like to get back into the first team at Shrewsbury whilst Michael Symes is unlikely to be one of those kept on by Keith after a highly disappointing loan spell. Sean Hessey may well be offered a deal after captaining the club during his hime on loan from Chester, who have now released him after the end of his contract. Ryan Cresswell, on loan from Sheffield United would also be a good acquisition should he be available.

Great? Good maybe, never liked his tactics, but a legend at Sincil Bank. Good luck next season, I think you are going to need it.
