Former Grimsby, Notts County and Bradford born midfielder Paul Bolland is back to his best following two years of injury torture yet he could have been plying his trade at York City instead. Add to this the fact that the family man has also taken a pay cut to return to Macclesfield and you begin to understand how much our football club means to him.

So time to blow some smoke up the midfield workhorse’s backside then!

Paul was released in the summer due to the good old budget, an everyday part of life at Macc unfortunately. However with uplift courtesy of the Chair and vice Chair`s continuing generosity meant Simmo could call him back into the fold on the eve of him signing for York City.

Paul took moments to follow his heart and has shown it every time he has stepped onto the pitch. The 31 year old is a steadying influence to a young side who shows what standing up and being counted is all about. Bolly is never going to be a Butcher or a Hamshaw but when it comes to inspiration and perspiration he is the midfield boss you want.

He is the busy bee that gets amongst them and breaks up the play in order to bring our more blessed ball players into the game. It is his combative style and solid yet simple distribution to feet that frees Hammy and Daniels to fly.

Well played Paul – outstanding attitude so far matched by some unsung heroics that have not gone unrecognised. Let`s have another massive match Saturday!
