Parkin Close To Return

Jon Parkin says there is ‘nothing worse than being injured’ and can’t wait to return to the starting line up.

The 23 year old striker, who netted 26 goals last season, has been out all this season with a knee injury he picked up in pre-season and is close to re-claiming his starting place. He is on the bench for this afternoons game v Bristol Rovers, but feels he is getting closer and closer to full fitness.

‘As a player there’s nothing worse than being injured and when it’s weeks and weeks until you can get back is frustrating. It’s hard because you’re doing the same thing day in, day out, which is tough. It will be a big relief to be back playing again and hopefully I can help the lads out. Obviously we’ve had a couple of heavy defeats but we haven’t been playing as badly as the results.’
