The Silkmen put the two recent defeats behind them with a 3-1 home victory. Nat Brown, Gareth Evans and Martin Gritton scored the goals.

The Silkmen started well, as they did against Morecambe and took the lead early on. A flowing move down the left saw a cross deep into he penalty area which Nat Brown headed powerfully down and into hte back of the net.

Despite the early goal, the Silkmen couldn’t capitalise and both Simon Yeo and JJ saw chances saved from a narrow angle, and Nat Brown volleyed over the bar.

But chester had started to get back into the game and by the second half they were threatening to equalise the game, and the goal was coming when Ryan Lowe culed a great strike past Brain’s left hand.

But the Silkmen fought back and the capitulation that hit the side on boxing Day was nowhere to be seen. Andthe persistence paid off when a Hessey ball into the box was blocked by the arm of Shaun Kelley, and Andy D’urso had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Gareth Evans coolly dispatched the penalty to put the Silkmen back into the lead. But the Silkmen weren’t finished and an excellent one touch passing move found Gritton in space to slot the ball home for the third goal of the afternoon.
