Two second haf goals from Hamza Bencherif were enough to give the Silkmen a 2-1 win over Torquay.

Aftera poor first half where the Silkmen failed to settle into the game, the visitors took the lead just after half time when Benyon somehow managed to squeeze the ball over the line despite Brain getting a strong touch.

But Hamza Bencherif took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored a first after Torquay failed to clear their lines, slamming in off the crossbar despite Torquay’s complaints that the strike had not crossed the line.

A few minutes later the same player worked well to find himself in space in the area and rifled in a great shot past the Torquay ‘keeper.

The Silkmen could have scored a third, and the visitors also got back into the game, but the score remained at full time.
