A bad day at the office for the Silkmen as a lacklustre display was punished.

Although in reality the Silkmen didn’t have time to start looking off the pace before Benson scored the opener for the visitors after just three minutes.

And four minutes later it was as good as over when Taiwo’s low shot took a fluke deflection and looped over Brain.

With the Silkmen now chasing shadows, Benson hit the third when a long range effort forced a spectacular save from Jon Brain to tip the ball onto the bar. But it cannoned into play and fell kindly for Benson’s second.

Any chance of a comeback was scuppered after just X minutes of the second half when a suicidal backpass allowed Saunders a free run at goal.

Certainly a game to forget as the Silkmen’s home form continues to strugle.
