Macclesfield Town have signed Lee Bell for a further 12 months.

The midfielder is one of the most regular first-team members this season after arriving from Mansfield in the Summer.

He has made a total of 39 appearances, 35 of those coming in the league, scoring once against Chesterfield.

Only Jon Brain, Paul Morgan and Shaun Brisley have made more appearances this season.

Speaking to the club’s official website www.mtfc.co.uk he said:

‘I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Moss Rose. It is a very well run club with lots of good people and that’s an important part of the decision to commit for another year,’ explained Lee.

‘The temptation is often to go out there and chase the best deal possible in terms of money. I know players at clubs who aren’t getting paid and that can be very unsettling. Stability is increasingly something you look for and Macc, thanks to the owners, the board and the gaffer seem to have their head screwed on when it comes to their finances.’

‘I am excited about the prospects for next season but before then we have the small matter of getting enough points to secure our league status. I wouldn’t say we are nervously looking over our shoulders but it would be good to get the extra point we need against Bury on Saturday to settle the manner.’

‘It’s doubly frustrating as we should have got at least a point against Morecambe. I thought we were the better side in the first half and for the early part of the second. But we switched off at the end and gave them an easy goal.’
