Injury Crisis Easing?

The Silkmen’s crippling injury situation finally had some good news this weekend.

When Ross Draper was stretchered off in the first half against Cheltenham with a suspected broken ankle, the Silkmen were looking at playing out the match with five players missing – all of which would have been first choices in their position with a fully fit squad.

With half a team out injured, the battling result against Cheltenham looks impressive, especially in context with the other recent results which has seen Gary Simpson taking three wins and a draw from his six games in charge since being forced into the hotseat in t6ragic circumstances.

But there is some light at the end of the injury tunnel as first Izak Reid returned to action as a second half substitute for his first game since coming off against Notts County six games ago.

Carl Tremarco was still missing, sitting out 11 of the last 13 games either side of his aborted comeback last week. But reports are that he could return for Aldershot.

But even this will leave the Silkmen missing Hamza Bencherif, who had his season ended with a nasty looking tackle at Rochdale in November, Ricky Sappleton – out after a knee operation – and Colin Daniel who has a hamstring pull.
