Matty McNeil makes a return to Hyde United as the Silkmen continue their pre-season against the Tigers.

Despite leaving the club for the Silkmen in February, McNeil finished last season as Hyde’s second top goalscorer with 15.

He won’t be the only player facing a former club, as Hyde’s Steve Brackenridge began his career with the Silkmen. The attacking midfielder scored twice in nine appearances.

Hyde United were promoted into the Conference North in 2004/2005 and finished their first season in 11th place.

The Silkmen may well feature either one or both of the trialists who played at Southport, but Scott McNiven seems more likely to make a return than the Portugese left-back Vieira.

Getting to Hyde:

M60 junction 24, take the M67 ( towards Sheffield ) to junction 3 (Hyde Dukinfield Stalybridge.)

Once on exit slipway keep to right-hand lane heading for Hyde centre. At traffic lights at end of slipway turn right onto Clarkway.

Once on Clarkway/Reynard street at the second set of lights turn left ( MORRISONS superstore will be on your left ) onto Mottram Road. At the first set of lights on Mottram Road turn right onto Lumn Road.

After approximately 200 yards you will come to a ‘giveway’ sign. There you turn left onto Walker Lane where after approximately 50 yards you will see Hyde Leisure Pool on your left.

The entrance to Ewen Field is to the right hand side of the leisure pool.
