Macclesfield Town have signed defender/midfielder Shaun Hessey on loan from Chester City for two months.

The player, who can play both in defence and as a holding midfielder has not featured for Chester this season despite featuring 31 times in all competitions for them last season.

Hessey signed for Chester in the summer of 2004 on their return to the Football League and played 40 times in all comps as they consolidated. In all he has played almost 100 times for the Deva Stadium side.

After beginning his career at Wigan, Hessey moved to Huddersfield and made his League debut in the Championship aged 19. He played a further 10 Championship games for the club the following season before his move north of the border.

Joining Kilmarnock in the summer of 1999, he played almost 50 times for the Scottish top flight side before relocating back to his North West home and to Blackpool where he played six League One matches at the end of the 03/04 season.

He will feel at home at the Silkmen having played alongside Dimech, Regan and McIntyre during his time with Chester City
