Kristian Dennis hit another two pre-season goals as a young Macclesfield side drew at Hednesford Town.

The Silkmen were leading 2-1 at the break thanks to Dennis’ brace, but Hednesford levelled in the second half.

These were Dennis’ fourth and fifth goals of pre-season after hitting a hat-trick in a youth team match against Buxton.

In a game which saw a large number of youth players and trialists, the home side took the lead after 24 minutes as Barnett rounded trialist ‘keeper Matt Towns to score.

Hednesford had beaten a Stoke City XI 4-0 earlier in the week but their hopes of a repeat of this victory were scuppered as Neil Harvey collected a poor clearance from the Hednesford ‘keeper and crossed to Dennis who scored from 15 yards.

The Silkmen then took the lead before half time when Dennis took a cheeky quick free kick which found the back of the net from 25 yards.

But the home side his back after half time, when the Silkmen had made several subs, and failed to clear the ball after it had hit the bar three times, before falling to Draper, who scored from the edge of the area.
