Macclesfield Town midfielder Paul Harsley has signed for Port Vale on a free transfer after rejecting a contract offer from the Silkmen.

The player has been an almost ever-present for the Silkmen over the past few years and has performed excellently out of position at right back as cover for Mark Bailey in the past two campaigns.

This will come as a real blow for the Silkmen, but at least it means that Brian Horton will know where he stands.

Paul joined the Silkmen from Northampton Town in February 2004 as one of John Askey’s signings. He went on to make over 125 appearances for the club, scoring 13 times.

The Silkmen are still waiting on both Danny Whitaker and Alan Navarro to sign their deals.
