Two goals in either half cost the Silkmen dear in a 4-0 defeat at Exeter.

Part poor showinf from the Silkmen and part good performance by the home side, the Silkmen really didn’t manage to take the game to their hosts and fell a goal down after 16 minutes.

But the Silkmen could have taken the lead after five minutes when Emile Sinclair screwed a shot wide.

Adam Stansfield opened the scoring with a volley and two minutes before half time, the Silkmen were undone by a fortunate deflection froma 25 yard free-kick. But the home side probably about deserved the two goal lead.

The Second half saw two goals in two minutes, Neil Saunders reacting fastest to poke home a shot that had hit the post before McAlister was first on the scene to tap home after a good save from Brain.

All in all a forgettable day for the Silkmen and one they will be keen to put behind them against Rochdale.
