A young Macclesfield side drew 2-2 with Eastwood Town, thanks to two goals from John Rooney.

The Silkmen took the lead after 19 minutes then Rooney nodded home from a Nick Blackman cross and took a 1-0 lead into the break.

But the home side equalised just five minutes after the restart, Simon Sturdy heading past youth team ‘keeper Ryan Moss.

Ten and five minutes after that, the home side took the lead as Rhead pounced quickest on a blocked shot to make it 2-1.

But Rooney equalised as he again met a cross, this time with a side foot, to make it 2-2.
