Macclesfield Town boss Keith Alexander has added experienced defender and five time play-off veteran Paul Morgan to the Silkmen`s squad for the coming campaign.

The 29 year old former Preston trainee was snapped up by Lincoln City, and went on to play almost 250 games for the club over six seasons. He had spent a season on loan at Sligo Rovers where he won a Football League of Ireland Cup winners medal.

Joining the Imps in 2001 he made his Football League debut against Halifax at 22 years of age.

These six seasons included the Imp`s five consecutive play-off campaigns, four of which came under Keith Alexander, facing the Silkmen in the semi final in 2005.

He joined Bury last summer to rejoin Alexander, and was a regular in the side until a new management team arrived and he fell out of favour.

Paul has also been a youth international for Northern Ireland, representing them at at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 level.

He joins the Silkmen on a season long loan and will be a great addition to the squad to add extra experience alongside the exciting younger prospects of Ahmed Deen and Shaun Brisley at the back.
