And so to Crewe Alexandra ????..into the very heart of the Empire of 1000 plus campaigner Dario the great, maharaja of managers and majesty – with balls and sceptres at his feet – went rookie manager Simmo and the Silkmen a crazy gang to a man. Armed with just a spear and not a bejewelled one at that with Tyrone the terrible fit and willing to make our point.

And he did just that, although Leitch-Smith ensured it finished honours even at Stad Alexandria.

Ah but to the game fellow footy fans, to the game – and ’twas a veritable carpet picnic feast fit for a king to boot

What is a guru to do when his side enjoys so much of the play yet cannot provide the cutting edge. Certainly the hosts had the ball in the net early doors but the offside flag curtailed any celebrations. The Railwaymen continued to charge all their rolling stock at the house of silk but Jose Veiga stayed safe and sound behind Paul Morgan and Nat Browns web.

Emile showed the prowess of the counter streaking down the flank but alas no one was there to toe poke home his delivery. Draper too started and finished his own move firing into the side netting. It was not just Crewe who can conjure carpet football at will, with the Silkmen in truth crafting the better end product during the first half.

Football is of course about taking chances, something Crewe almost did with a Miller screamer straight after half time. Jose Veiga, the coiled Cape crusader, leapt and kept the scores level with a reflex save that had Victor Meldews in unison going “un – believable”, all around the ground. Miller with the freedom of Cheshire at his disposal missed a sitter having sprung Morgan`s defensive deadbolt to a tee. ‘How high and how wide do you want the goal` are lyrics that come to mind.
On 52 the Silkmen made the hosts pay with a goal of simplicity and power as Nat Brown flicked on a corner for Tyrone to power home a towering header, leaving all in his wake. When this lad begins to get to grips with his gifts League 2 we could be in for some outstanding displays you feel. On the hour Tyrone repeated the feat yet his header was deemed a foul with the goal inexcusably disallowed after the referee had initially given it.

The linesman apparently saw a shirt pull yet moments later was blind to Millers foul on Chalmers with the lad clean through on goal. Barnett then had an effort superbly saved before lady luck again intervened. Ajay Leitch-Smith hit a shot which took a huge deflection to wrong-foot Veiga and sneak in to the bottom corner. She also had a hand, along with the linesman (again) in ensuring Bells handball went unpunished despite the ball rolling down his arm.

So all square not exactly fair but who wouldn`t have taken a point ahead of the all Cheshire affair?
