Macclesfield Town play out a 0-0 draw in the first pre-season game at Corby.

In a hard fought game the Silkmen had the best of the first half and could have scored when Rooney stung the fingertips of the Corby ‘keeper, Bencherif hit the bar and Wright had a goal disallowed for very little.

Kris Dennis also went close.

But the second half saw eleven subs and the home side took the game to the Silkmen more. Jon Brain was on hand to make two good saves to keep the score at 0-0.

Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander was pleased with the match telling the official website: ‘It was a great workout today. In the first 45 I thought we looked very good. We had a few lads passing the ball very well, better than we have been doing.’

First Half: Gamble, Reid, Tremarco, Morgan (c), Bains, Bencherif, Rooney, Draper, Wright, Sinclair, Dennis.

Second Half: Brain, Lowe, Liburd*, Brisley, Flynn, Bell (c), Bolland, Thomas**, Daniels, Mukendi, Wilson.

The Silkmen take on Buxton on Tuesday night.
