Chester City have released Shaun Hessey, who spent most of last season on loan at the Silkmen. This has obviously fuelled speculation that he will be signing for the Silkmen this Summer.

The defender, who was signed by Ian Brightwell in November and went on to play 26 times for the Silkmen.

He was even named as captain by Keith Alexander as he formed a part of the back line that conceded just eight goals in 12 matches under Alexander.

The Silkmen are set to name their retained list on Friday, and Keith has already stated that he is interested in making one or two of last season’s loanees permanent members of the Silkmen squad.
