The Silkmen ended the season with a 0-0 draw at Cheshire rivals Chester City.

After a few years of last-day nerves, it was refreshing to go into a final match of the season without the threat of relegation hanging over the club.

But it was traditional summer fayre on show with both sides clearly having one eye on their summer holidays.

The key element for the Silkmen was the return to the first team of Andy Teague, playing his first match since breaking his leg against Stockport the previous season.

Meanwhile John Rooney made his first League start.

and it was Wayne’s kid brother who came closest to hitting the back of the net for the Silkmen with an excellent shot on the turn that crashed back into play from the underside of the bar.

Nick Blackman also made an appearance from the bench.
