Richard Butcher could well get a run out against Crewe ahead of a visit to three times the charm Lincoln City this Saturday. Butch is awash with nostalgia having got on for the last knockings in the 2-0 win over home town club, the Cobblers on Saturday.
Butcher has of course missed two thirds of the season with a knee ligament injury having started the season so well. Another summer signing he became entwined, even moved here with his new wife in the summer, with us after Simmo blagged him on loan last season.
And what an impact he had with 2 goals in 8 games at a vital time. It lifted the side in the table as the club valiantly came back from Keith`s untimely death. Chris Sutton recalled him largely to the bench, suggesting the impact may have been too classy for comfort.
Simmo, a manager who appreciates his talents, not to mention being a marvelous motivator of men, pounced as soon as Butcher was paid up this summer. Richard jumped at the chance, upped sticks from an area he had lived in for years and started afresh this side of the Pennines.
A bid welcome back to box-to-box Richard, who looks fitter than a Butcher`s dog and is eager to prove a point tonight and Saturday. Its been a traumatic last few months for the midfielder who likes to let his feet do the talking.
