Silkmen ‘keeper Jon Brain has signed a new two year deal at the Moss Rose.

The former Port Vale man joined the club two years ago and has since made 43 appearances for the Silkmen.

He suffered an injury in Novermber 2006 during a 1-1 draw at Stockport County, which kept him out for the rest of that season but fought his way back into the side.

Taking over from Tommy Lee when he was himself injured, Brain’s performances under both Brightwell and Alexander made the slot his own.

One of the turning points of the season came when he saved a penalty at Dagenham and Redbridge a few minutes before Franny Green hit the only goal of Alexander’s first win.
